Activities for spring, summer, and autumn

A holiday where you don’t have to figure out what to do with the kids every day

A stay in the heart of the mountains has one big advantage
The children are outside all day, pleasantly tired, played out, and content in the evening — and parents can finally relax a little. 🙂

And because we know that planning a family holiday sometimes primarily means asking: “What will we do with the kids there every day?”, we’ve prepared a guide to excursions around Žižkova bouda for you.

Our Bouda is the perfect place for families with children, individuals, and groups – in short, for everyone who wants to experience more than just a mountain stay. We are at 1000 m above sea level and directly on hiking trails – right from your doorstep, you can set off on an adventure across peaks and into magical valleys.

We’ve prepared 40 tips for you on where to go for excursions (we’ve divided them by difficulty), where to have fun, where to relax, and what to do when it’s raining.

Here’s a taste. All our tips, with links to excursion maps, route descriptions, clearly divided into categories and hiking difficulty, are available for download.

In the guide, we’ve included:

  • excursions and activities in the vicinity, always starting and ending at Žižkárna,
  • tips divided by difficulty,
  • links to excursion maps – easy to use directly from your phone,
  • what to do when it rains,
  • and some of our favorite spots that tourist websites often don’t show.

Mini Animal Adventure

Husova bouda – Pražská bouda – Kolínská bouda

An Unforgettable Mountain Day for Children

One of our most beloved family excursions is a trip to see the animals.

And the best part is that you can embark directly from the hotel — no car transfers or complicated planning required.

The path leads uphill from Žižkárna, past Husova bouda, Pražská bouda, Bouda Krakonoš, and the destination is Kolínská bouda.

This is a very easy route. The starting point is at Žižkova bouda, naturally 🙂 As we mentioned, you’ll be heading uphill. After approximately 600 m, you’ll reach the Beer Bar – a self-service taproom located near Husova bouda. Perhaps it’s time for your first refreshment and a lemonade?

You can continue either uphill along the paved path around Husova bouda (and a few meters beyond it, turn left at the crossroads onto the yellow trail), or you’ll see a more direct, well-trodden path ahead of you along the hillside next to the forest – the choice is yours.

Both paths merge into one after a while, and you continue along the path through a place called Lučiny. Gradually, after a few tens to hundreds of meters, you’ll pass (or even better, visit…) Pražská bouda, Bouda Krakonoš, and Kolínská bouda. All the chalets have outdoor playgrounds of varying sizes for children and outdoor seating with magnificent views of the landscape.

A mini zoo awaits you at Kolínská bouda. Children love the animal enclosure and the playground here. Adults, on the other hand, admire the views with something delicious in hand…

From Kolínská bouda, you return via the same route.
